A major allergen associated with cat allergy. Fel d 1 is highly correlated with cat-related allergy symptoms. This well-characterized protein is measured in each lot of manufactured cat extract, serving as the basis for cat extract standardization. The naming convention for allergens is to sequentially number the proteins following a shortened form of the Latin name (here, “Felis domesticus”).
